Barbera Bear cares about the mascot do’s and do nots.

Philly’s famous mascot, the Barbera Bear, is here, there and everywhere and he’s giving tips for being the Is Barbera Best? Boy I Guess! Barbera Bear mascot he or she can be.

Never take off your fur in front of anyone – It’s important to stay in character. As a mascot, you represent the team. The Barbera Bear represent the 3 decades of the Barbera family, Barbera culture and our guests and clients and the importance to stay true to character.  The Philly fans deserve to know that as the Barbera Bear, I will never remove my big bear head or hat in front of the children. Being the Barbera Bear is magic and I bring magic and happiness to our Philly fans, especially the little children.  Can’t break the belief system!

Have fun! – Mascots are here to bring the noise and the fun!  Act larger than life, dance, be happy and spread that happiness.

Take photos and videos – Philadelphia families love to take pictures with me, the Barbera Bear, that’s what I’m here for.

Be safe and act in a safe manner – Young fans are watching.  As a mascot, you must lead by example.  Nothing, no stunts that could injure myself or my fans.  Children do as you do not as you say.

Ignore any hecklers – Sure, sometimes there’s an occasional person who wants to try to take my hat or plays a little too rough with Barbera Bear…that comes with the territory.  Philadelphia fans are passionate and sometimes that can lead to the occasional poke of the Bear. But that’s ok. I keep my spirits up. I’m part of a team bigger than one person or one Bear.

Treasure the opportunity – As the Barbera Bear, I have the opportunity to meet thousands of people and fans a week. That means a lot to me. It’s my pleasure to get out there and perform. That’s what I do.

When I hear, “Is Barbera the Best?  Boy I Guess!!!!” and when little kids come running up to me for a hug, I know I’m doing my best and I’m doing it well.
